Cool Kitchen

This is a photo of the kitchen in a house I really want. The realtor said that the kitchen needs some serious updating, but I love it just the way it is!! They just don't make them like they used to......

Birthday Wishes

I don't even know if anyone reads this blog, but for my 30th birthday present to myself, I'm going to try to contact the man that owns the now defunct Dinosaur World and see if he will give me permission to go in and look around. How sweet would that be to take a picture with T-Rex AND King Kong on the same day!! ;-)

Too Skinny? Is that really a problem?

I just can't seem to get enough of old ads from comic books, magazines, and newspapers. Ah.....life before the internet and when kids actually played outdoors or with their imaginations!!

This "Sea Monkeys" ad is from my Vol 8, No. 38, June 1978 comic book Ghost Manor. Real Sea Monkeys (in the family of shrimp) are actually pretty ugly.

This is from my Vol 1, No. 69, March 1974 issue of The Savage Sub-Mariner. Really, too skinny? This was definitely before people stopped cooking at home and ate fast food all the time.

The Slim Jim and Mustache ad are from a few pages of a Ghost Rider comic that I have, unknown date and edition. You can even send in a sample of your hair so they can match it!! HAHA!! Impressive alright!

Pop Art?

I have an affinity for vintage pop caps. These are some of my newer ones that I've made into refrigerator magnets so I can enjoy them everyday!

Men in Tights

Sometimes I think the world would be a lot nicer if we had more superheroes that wore tights:

(This last one of Ghost Manor has nothing to do with tights or superheroes but I love the undead illustrations!)

Show and Tell

I found these at a garage sale also (hmm....there seems to be a theme going here) and I had to have them for $0.25! I am only missing card #2 of the Gay Dog, but I love the drawings! I used to play with a set like these Rummy cards at my Great Grandma's house every Sunday growing up. Now I'm on the prowl for a vintage set of the Authors playing cards like the photo at the bottom.

Miss those too!!

Why I was born in the wrong decade..........

I....LOVE....VINTAGE GRAPHICS!!!
There is just something about the bright innocent colors that todays advertisers seem to have forgotten. Everytime I look at images like these, it brings a smile to my face and makes me feel nostalgic for a time when I wasn't even alive. Here are some photos of WWII postcards that were sent by my husbands relatives. Enjoy!!

I think everyone that is within earshot of me knows about my love of vintage and retro ephemera. I purchased an old meat box full of an unknown family's slides at a garage sale in Eureka Springs in 2004. It turned out to be a treasure trove of slides taken during Christmas time, family vacations, birthdays, and picnics. Spanning the 60's, it's a cool snapshot of life from the viewpoint of the cameraman. Here are two of the slides that I recently had made into a photos:

This one is from Yellowstone and is SO darn adorable!!

This is my dream Christmas Tree and I will wait until I find one. Someday!!

I will post more when I get them printed. Thanks!

Coming Soon!

I am excited to have my first blog! This page is under construction right now but will be up and running this week! Thanks for checking in!
